R. Annot. 33). James J. Whitehurst appeals his conviction of
driving after being declared a habitual violator (K.S.A. 8-287)
and driving with illegal registration (K.S.A. 1987 Supp. 8-142).
Whitehurst contends (1) the stopping of his car was unlawful and
